2019 has officially come to an end…
I spent the last day of 2019 on BLM land at Lake Mead and captured the last sunrise!
New Year’s Eve in Nevada turned out to be an amazing “blue-bird” day and I took the opportunity to rest and reflect on the past year as well as the past decade.
I thought about what I have accomplished, what I have failed at, what I have learned from and what my dreams and goals were for the future…
My thoughts wandered throughout the day and I found myself thinking about how I wanted to start out the New Year.
I’m not talking about setting New Year’s resolutions… for me, this was more of a reflection and an opportunity to create the “future-me”…
When I woke up on Jan 1, 2020, I realized that not only was it a new year… it was a new day… a new month… and a new decade!
And as I watched the sunrise {wondering if it would be similar to the morning before…} I was reminded that things are constantly changing. Here is the first sunrise of 2020…
The sky was on fire! {It was spectacular!}
It was SO amazing to see the sunrise completely different than the day before.
When I shared my experience with a good friend, I was reminded of how fortunate we are to “see” everything as new each and every time…
… so, I spent New Years Day observing the clouds, the birds, the desert landscape, the water, the mountains, the wildlife and finally the sunset… all without knowledge, experience, or expectation. I just simply experienced al that was around me. It was such a beautiful way to start a new year!
I’m so thankful for my road trip, the people I have met and the experiences I have had.
My wish for this year is to continue to practice living in the moment, be joyful and see beauty everywhere.
Cheers to the 1st Sunrise of the decade… may 2020 invite the unknown and an opportunity to learn…
