Beach Clean Up

I have to admit… I was skeptical about visiting Las Vegas…

Up until now, I have only been to Vegas 1X — I was here in 2012 and it was such a culture shock that I was convinced that I would not come back…  and anyone who knows me knows that Vegas and I are like opposites… =)

Prior to arriving, I joked about visiting Vegas and “glowing” once I left cause there are so many damn lights! {ha}

…But since my dad was flying in for Christmas, I decided to give it another try and I can honestly say that I TRULY fell in love with Las Vegas and the community that surrounds it.

When I first arrived I stayed about 40 minutes outside of the City for a few days on Lake Mead…

While there, I visited with a friend who showed me Boulder City, local diners, hikes to hot springs, camping on BLM land, sunrises, sunsets and I even got to go sailing on Lake Mead! {I had never been sailing before}

Here are a few pics from my trip:

Once I finally went into the City of Vegas… I visited Freemont Street, ate at a cute diner & spent 2 days at Red Rocks Canyon!

Wow… Freemont Street on a Friday night sure brings out the “wacky-ness” in people… there were all sorts of street performers around. {enough said} ?

Once I had enough of the City scene, I headed out to hike Red Rocks which is an area managed by the Bureau of Land Management & is red from the Iron.

Here are a few pics from Red Rocks Canyon –

This was SUCH a magical place… I immediately felt a connection to the land and I even saw an upside-down rainbow!

I’ll be in the greater Las Vegas area for the next 2 weeks and I can’t wait to explore more of Nevada and Arizona. I’m hoping to get out to the Grand Canyon and then stay at the Bellagio for a few days over Christmas… when my dad arrives.
